About this deal

I’ve used the Nikon 85mm D and 85mm G for 3 years, and I can personally say that this lens is most probably the best lens I’ve ever used. If you're replying to this comment then certainly you must have some modern devices at your disposal, so what's your point exactly? producing results on par with its competitors, it's easy to recommend, especially given the cost savings that will result.

The only time eye af struggles it when I have strong irregular shadows on the face, hair, or something else obscuring the face. I’ve been taking a great deal of family photos over the last year due to becoming a father and I’ve been tempted to upgrade to the Sigma. Thus it's fatuous to even try to annoint a "world's best" lens because of some fabulous level of sharpness. Also as promised, sharpness is exceptional across most of the frame, even when shooting wide-open at f/1.

The manual focus ring works with smooth precision so that you can really nail focusing in extreme close-ups.

But no adapter allows Eye-AF that I know of, and even those that claim they do, shows significant drop in performance when using the Eye-AF. For now, maybe you'd be interested in trying out for Broncolor Gen Next contest for photographers below 30 years old. cause this magic lens is incredibely massive, the longer is the same than his largeur, the uv's screw is 77mm and nobody can't ignore the sensation of stronger and power of this magnific lens ! We've selected a group of cameras that are easy to keep with you, and that can adapt to take photos wherever and whenever something memorable happens.

I have posted numerous reviews from people who have used the adapter and reported problems with the AF, including the Eye-AF, so what else is there to debate? We’ve been thoroughly impressed by the build quality of all Sigma Art-line lenses but, unlike some of them, this one has the additional bonus of weather-seals, which will please rainy-day wedding photographers.

The lens adapters aren't perfect, but they do work (I've been shooting my a7r w/ Canon lenses for over 3 years). Full Time manual focus can be engaged by rotating the focusing ring, even when shooting continuous autofocus and a state-of-the-art electronic diaphragm is included for lenses in the nikon mount. I know that it lacks autofocus, but with the Nikon mount, I can set the aperture and the focus fully manual. Remember also the use case for a waist up or shoulders up portrait shot, those pros are willing to use tripods or monopods.

Today, people seem obsessed with sharpness as if this is the holy grail, and don't seem to appreciate the vastly more important imaging qualities of a lens and which makes different lenses, and which may be less sharp, so interesting. CA gets a little bit noticable when the Pentax lens is stopped down above ƒ/11; the Sigma handles CA slightly better. Besides these points there are only positive things to notice like the almost APO like correction of chromatic aberrations, very nice bokeh and outstanding sharpness. Colour fringing is amazingly negligible, both in terms of lateral and axial chromatic aberrations, across the entire image frame and into the extreme corners.Last weekend, I shot in downtown Chicago in challenging conditions with the new emount sigma 105 f/1. However the Sony has even nicer bokeh to my taste, with some undercorrected SA and less optical vignetting. Stabilization enables the convenience of handheld portraiture indoors or at twilight, without the need to use flash or bump up your camera’s ISO setting, which degrades image quality. The Tamron 85mm is not a real competitor to the Sigma 85mm Art of course, but I thought that we could see how the lenses compare. Rubberdials I'm having a hard time understanding where you're finding the Sony to be sharper than the Sigma in the center or in the corners for that matter.
